Fitness Friday... A Day Late

I forgot to post this yesterday. So just pretend it's still Friday and that you still have 2 full days of glorious weekend ahead of you! Yes I said pretend.

Here is this weeks workout! I hope you enjoy

10 minute warm up (your choice)

3x through the following: (for time)
2 min run at 80%
50 squats
40 sit ups
30 pushups
20 Kettle/ Dumbbell Swings

5-10 minutes warm down plus stretching!

That's all! The pushups were definitely the limiting factor for me!

Welcome to the Jungle

Welcome to the Jungle

Leopard print, snakeskin and zebra prints are not things I am normally drawn to... but for some reason today I was inspired by the jungle! While I don't think I could jump right into the dresses, the accessories are definitely calling to me!
Enjoy

Spotlight on: The Olympics

It's no secret. I LOVE the Olympics. If I could I would watch 24/7 during the 2 weeks that they are on... Unfortunately life still goes on. It's tragic. Luckily I was on holiday the first week of the games this year so I did get to watch all I wanted! I can't believe the games are already over... and now we have to wait another 4 years for them again. Sad

Now I could never sum up everything that happened during this years games, but here are a few of the most memorable moments from London (in my opinion at least!)

Missy Franklin! This girl is an amazing swimmer and so cute. At 17 she is accomplishing such great things at such a young age. I used to swim, and watching her reach such huge success at her age is just incredible. Everytime she is interviewed she always has a smile on her face, and seems so mature for someone still in high school! I can't wait to watch this girls' career!

Paula Findlay. Canadian thriathalete. This girl broke my heart at these games. Watching her apologize to our country for losing was heart wrenching! As a fellow Canadian I can say that she has nothing to be sorry for and that we are proud to have her represent our country. After not competing for an entire year due to injury the fact that she still raced was amazing. Please don't be sorry Paula! Your country is behind you!

The Canadian women's soccer team winning bronze! After a devastating defeat by the Americans to try and win a bid to the gold medal game these girls made an amazing recovery to beat the French in the bronze medal match. Again, this is a team that has battled this year, overcoming adversity and a lot of negative press to achieve this goal. Amazing job ladies. You did Canada proud!

Rosie MacLennan's gold in women's trampoline. This was Canada's only gold during these games so of course we will all remember her! I actually know her sister so watching Rosie was pretty exciting for me! Trampoline is a sport that I honestly know nothing about, but that's part of what makes the Olympics so great... watching sports that I wouldn't otherwise get the chance to see!

Men's triathlon crash involving Simon Whitfield and Leonardo Chacon. There were big medal hopes following Simon into these games... Unfortunately he crashed early in the bike leg, bringing down with him Leonardo Chacon. While this was a devastating outcome for both athletes, Chacon took the high road and sent Simon such a heartfelt facebook message after the crash. If you haven't seen it I encourage you to google it. So touching. I will remember this one for a while!

Others that I need to mention (from top): Michael Phelps, Usain Bolt, Ryan Cochrane and Brett Hayden. Now I don't need to explain the first two, everyone knows who they are. But Ryan and Brett were our Canadian swimmers who earned medals at these games. Since I used to swim I am always partial to the swimming events, so I couldn't finish this post without mentioning them! Congrats guys

Well I guess I have no excuse not to study anymore...
I hope everyone enjoyed the games as much as I did!

In the Mail

Has anyone else been tempted by the amazing sales on right now? Well I caved this week and purchased a few things that I am patiently waiting for... Here is what I am expecting in my mail box!

Joe's Ikat Jeans! I tried these on at Anthropologie a couple months ago but they didn't have the right size... well Nieman Marcus has them on super sale right now... enough said...

Café capri in Caribbean tweed
J.Crew capris. This was a total spur of the moment purchase. But they were again on SUPER SALE. And if you know me you would know that these are all my favorite colors... so of course I couldn't say no!

This dress from Anthropologie! I have been spying on this one for a while and it finally went on sale. It was meant to be (at least that's what I tell myself so I can sleep at night)

Internet shopping is just too easy! My wallet would be so much happier if I online stores didn't exist... Not that I am complaining... just stating a fact! Is anyone else a regular online shopper?

Five Things

So I love making lists. It is so satisfying to cross each item off one by one! You can laugh at me all you like but they work for me. I have to admit that I sometimes start a list and put something on it that I just finished, just so that I can cross it off. It's ridiculous.
Since most of my lists are full of no fun items, and things that I need to get done I thought it would be nice to create a list of things that I want to try and do this summer... here is what I came up with!
Wish me luck!

Have a picnic! I can't tell you the last time I had a picnic... it's been so long that I can't remember! Now I don't expect my picnic to be as pretty as this... but isn't that lovely?

Get my tragus pierced! I have wanted this done for so long! I don't have a good reason for delaying so long but I think it is finally time I get this done! So pretty

This says it all... get a pedicure! It has been a very long time since I have had one and my poor feet are looking less than pretty these days.

Make something! Pinterest has so many cute things that people make. I would like to pick one to make for myself this summer... any suggestions?

Try wakeboarding! I grew up water skiing but never tried wakeboarding. I think it would be good for me to finally give this one a go! Wish me luck... and an injury free attempt!

Well those are my five things. What do you want to do this summer?

Fitness Friday

Since I am on vacation I have been able to get back to a much more regular workout schedule and it feels amazing! If only it could always be like this!
Today I actually did two workouts. This morning I went for a 55 minute run. I am working on getting my mileage back up to where it once was... it's a slow and painful journey right now but I know that after a few more times out it will get a lot easier.

This afternoon I did a second workout with a completely different focus.
Here is today's workout:

15 minute warm up

Repeat the following 5 times, and record total time:

10 burpees
10 squats
10 situps (legs raised)

My total time was 5:27. I plan on repeating this one again in a few weeks and hopefully will see an improvement!

Burpees are probably one of the exercises that I love/ hate the most! They always hurt me yet I feel so good after doing them. Can anyone empathize?

I hope you all have a good weekend!
